HGV Mechanic – Used Vehicle Preparation
Location: Dudley
Salary: £44,000 – £54,000 per annum (DOE)
Hours: Monday to Friday | Day Shift
Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Company Overview:
Our client is a well-established and highly respected business specialising in the sale of quality used HGV vehicles. With a stock of over 200 vehicles and more than 500 units sold annually, they have built a strong reputation for reliability, workmanship, and customer satisfaction.
Due to continued growth, they are now seeking an experienced HGV Mechanic to join their busy workshop in Dudley.
The Role:
As an HGV Mechanic – Used Vehicle Preparation, you will play a key role in ensuring all vehicles are fully inspected, repaired, and presented to the highest standards prior to sale. You’ll be working within a professional, well-equipped workshop alongside a skilled and dedicated team.
Key Responsibilities:
Carry out detailed inspections and preparation of HGVs prior to resale
Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults using diagnostic tools
Perform routine servicing, maintenance, and component replacements
Ensure all vehicles are safe, roadworthy, and meet quality standards
Maintain accurate service and repair records
Work collaboratively to meet preparation deadlines
Follow all health & safety procedures and keep the workshop clean and organised
Skills & Experience Required:
Proven experience as an HGV Mechanic / Commercial Vehicle Technician
Strong mechanical and electrical fault-finding skills
Competent with diagnostic equipment and software
NVQ Level 3 in Vehicle Maintenance or Heavy Vehicle Engineering ()
Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving ability
Strong communication skills and a team-focused attitude
Full UK driving licence (HGV licence advantageous)
Additional Requirements:
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Reliable and adaptable in a fast-paced environment
Willingness to travel to other sites occasionally
Flexibility for occasional evening or weekend work when required
