HGV Class 1 Driver – Birmingham, West Midlands

People Solutions are currently recruiting for a HGV Class 1 Driver to join our well-established client based in Birmingham, West Midlands.

This role is ideal for an experienced HGV Class 1 Driver looking for consistent day or night shift work.

Shifts:

Days:

 •  Monday to Saturday

Nights:

 •  Monday to Friday
 •  1 in 4 Sundays required
 •  Start times between 16:00 – 17:00

Rates of Pay:

 •  Days: £16.43 per hour
 •  Overtime (after 48 hours): £21.85 per hour
 •  Nights : £21.85 per hour

Day-to-Day Duties

As an HGV Class 1 Driver, your duties will include (but are not limited to):

 •  Class 1 trunking work
 •  Up to a maximum of 3 drops per day to known destinations
 •  Operating Category CE vehicles safely and efficiently
 •  Carrying out pre- and post-journey vehicle inspections
 •  Ensuring all goods are loaded and secured correctly
 •  Adhering to UK traffic laws and transport regulations
 •  Communicating effectively with the transport office and customers
 •  Reporting any vehicle defects or maintenance requirements
 •  Assisting with loading and unloading when required

Essential Skills

As an HGV Class 1 Driver, you will need:

 •  Valid UK Category CE Driving Licence
 •  Minimum of 12 months' experience driving C+E vehicles
 •  No more than six penalty points for minor offences (no major endorsement codes)
 •  Valid UK Driver CPC Card and Digital Tachograph Card
 •  Good spoken and written English
 •  Excellent punctuality and timekeeping
 •  Strong understanding xbpsjku of UK road traffic laws
 •  Effective communication skills

Desirable Experience

 •  Previous experience in Class 1 trunking or store delivery work

Training Provided

 •  Driver assessment required prior to starting
 •  Two-week paid induction following a successful assessment
 •  Ongoing industry-related training and support
