HGV Class 1 Driver – East Midlands Gateway, Derbyshire

People Solutions are currently recruiting for an HGV Class 1 Driver to join our well-established client based at East Midlands Gateway, Derbyshire. This is a fantastic opportunity offering excellent rates of pay, consistent Monday to Friday work, and long-term opportunities with the potential to secure a permanent position.

Shifts

  •  Monday – Friday
  •  Start times between 04:00 and 16:00

Rates of Pay

  •  06:00 – 18:00: £16.66 per hour
  •  18:00 – 06:00: £20.82 per hour

Day-to-Day Duties

As an HGV Class 1 Driver, your duties will include (but are not limited to):

  •  Safely operating Category C+E vehicles, completing 3–5 trunk runs per day
  •  Operating curtain-sider trailers and securing all loads correctly, including awkward loads
  •  Making timely deliveries to various destinations
  •  Communicating effectively with the transport team
  •  Adhering to company policies, procedures, and safety regulations
  •  Ensuring full compliance with driving laws and working time directives

Essential Skills

As an HGV Class 1 Driver, you will need:

  •  Valid UK Category C+E Licence
  •  Valid UK CPC Card and Digital Tachograph Card
  •  Minimum of six months' continuous experience driving Class 1 vehicles
  •  No more than six penalty points for minor infringements (no major endorsements)
  •  Excellent communication and time management skills
  •  Professional and reliable attitude

Desirable Experience

  •  Experience securing and strapping abnormal loads
  •  Experience manoeuvring in tight delivery depots

Training Provided

  •  Driving assessment required prior to start
  •  Three-day paid company induction programme
  •  Full industry-related training and ongoing support
