Class 1 (HGV) Driver – Night Shift
Pay Rate: £15.44 – £18.98 per hour (mixture of sociable & unsociable hours rates) Job Type: Temporary (2 weeks initially, with potential for extension) Shift Pattern: Monday to Friday Start Time: 9:00pm or 10:00pm Location: Irlam
About the Role: We are currently recruiting Class 1 (C+E) Drivers for a large and well-established logistics company based in Irlam. This is a temporary position for an initial 2-week period, with the potential for ongoing work for the right candidate. You will be working in 2-man teams, ensuring efficient and safe delivery operations during night shifts.
Key Responsibilities: • Carry out deliveries as part of a 2-person team • Complete handballing as required (both when driving and as second man) • Ensure timely and accurate deliveries • Conduct vehicle checks and adhere to all compliance regulations • Maintain a high standard of professionalism and customer service
Training & Support: • You will start as a second man for the first few shifts • Work alongside an experienced driver to learn routes and processes (“shown the ropes”)
Assessment Requirement: • A driver assessment on a day shift will be required prior to starting
Requirements: • Valid UK Class 1 (C+E) Licence • Valid CPC & Digital Tachograph Card • Previous Class 1 experience preferred but not essential • Comfortable with manual handling / handballing • Reliable and able to work night shifts
