HGV Technician Location: Skelmersdale Salary: £40,000 Hours: Monday–Friday (Day Shift) Flexible start times: 6am–3pm | 7am–4pm | 8am–5pm Holidays: 22 days + Bank Holidays

HGV Technician / Mechanic / Engineer Opportunity A well-established fleet maintenance business with over 50 years’ industry experience, multiple sites nationwide, and circa 300 employees is looking to recruit an experienced HGV Technician for its Skelmersdale depot.

The Role – HGV Technician / Mechanic / Engineer You will be responsible for maintaining a mixed fleet of approximately 60 HGVs (DAF, IVECO, Mercedes, Scania & Volvo) and 150 trailers, working as part of an established workshop team.

Carrying out routine servicing, inspections, and preventative maintenance Diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic faults Completing MOT preparation and presentation (HGV & trailer) Working to DVSA standards and company compliance procedures Carrying out defect rectification and safety inspections Completing job cards and maintenance records accurately Supporting breakdown repairs where required Ensuring workshop housekeeping and H&S standards are maintained Working collaboratively with other technicians to meet fleet availability targets Time split between HGV units and trailers Participation in a voluntary on-call rota What We’re Looking For – HGV Technician / Mechanic / Engineer

Proven experience as an HGV Technician, HGV Mechanic, or Commercial Vehicle Engineer NVQ Level 3 / City & Guilds in HGV, Heavy Vehicle Maintenance, or equivalent (or time-served) Strong diagnostic and fault-finding ability Experience working on trailers (desirable but not essential) Good understanding of DVSA and MOT standards Ability to work independently and as part of a team Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety Full UK driving licence (HGV Class 1 or 2 advantageous but not essential)For more information on this HGV Technician / Mechanic / Engineer role, or for a confidential discussion about your next career move, contact Paul at Kemp Recruitment on (phone number removed).
