As an HGV Mechanic, you will play a critical role in maintaining the safety, compliance, and reliability of a modern fleet of heavy goods vehicles. Working within a professional, fully equipped workshop environment, you will perform comprehensive servicing, maintenance, inspection, and repair work on HGV trucks and trailersprimarily Volvo, Scania, and DAF models. Reporting to the Lead Mechanic and collaborating with an experienced workshop team, you will ensure that all vehicles remain roadworthy, compliant with safety regulations, and ready for operation. This is a hands-on role that demands technical expertise, problem-solving ability, and the confidence to work both as part of a team and independently when required. Your attention to detail and commitment to professional standards will directly contribute to the safe operation of the transport fleet and the company's reputation for reliability.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform routine servicing and preventative maintenance on HGV trucks and trailers to manufacturer specifications
• Conduct comprehensive fault-finding and diagnostics using both mechanical and electrical testing methods
• Repair and replace worn, damaged, or faulty components to restore vehicles to safe working condition
• Inspect vehicles to verify compliance with road safety standards and regulatory requirements
• Complete job cards, maintenance records, and technical documentation accurately and thoroughly
• Work collaboratively with the workshop team while demonstrating the ability to manage tasks independently
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized workshop environment

Experience & Expertise Required:

• Proven experience as an HGV Mechanic or equivalent heavy vehicle maintenance role
• Strong knowledge of HGV systems including engines, transmissions, braking systems, and electrical components
• Competence in fault-finding and diagnostic procedures for mechanical and electrical faults
• Familiarity with Volvo, Scania, and DAF vehicles (or equivalent heavy commercial vehicle brands)
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, job cards, and maintenance schedules
• Experience maintaining accurate maintenance records and completing technical documentation
