ROLE OVERVIEW
We are seeking a motivated and detail-focused Housekeeping Supervisor to join the team at The Roseate Edinburgh. This is a key operational role within the Housekeeping department, responsible for supporting the Housekeeping Manager in maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness, presentation and guest comfort across the property.
The ideal candidate will be a hands-on, passionate hospitality professional who leads by example, takes genuine pride in their work and is committed to delivering an exceptional five-star guest experience. You will help uphold the Roseate brand's signature dedication to mindful restoration, immaculate presentation and warm, personalised service.
MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Team Supervision
Supervise and support the day-to-day work of the housekeeping team, ensuring seamless room turnarounds and high productivity.
Assist in the induction and training of new housekeeping team members in line with Roseate Hotels & Resorts standards.
Coordinate daily task allocation, ensuring all staff are briefed on priorities, arrivals and special requirements at the start of each shift.
Act as first point of contact for housekeeping team members during shifts, escalating issues to the Housekeeping Manager as appropriate.
Support in monitoring team performance and contribute to a culture of excellence, accountability and continuous improvement.
Operations & Standards
Oversee the cleaning, servicing and presentation of guest rooms, suites, public areas, corridors and back-of-house spaces to a consistently impeccable five-star standard.
Carry out thorough room inspections and public area checks, providing immediate feedback and ensuring corrective actions are taken promptly.
Assist in coordinating room readiness for arrivals, VIP guests and special requests in close liaison with the Front Office team.
Maintain accurate records of room status, out-of-order rooms and maintenance requirements, reporting to the relevant departments without delay.
Ensure all deep-cleaning schedules and preventative maintenance programmes are completed as planned.
Manage and monitor the stock of linens, guest amenities, cleaning supplies and equipment, reporting shortfalls and placing orders in accordance with par levels.
Guest Experience
Act as an ambassador for the Roseate brand, ensuring every guest interaction reflects the hotel's values of warmth, elegance and discretion.
Respond promptly and professionally to all guest requests and housekeeping-related issues, ensuring complete guest satisfaction.
Collaborate with Front Office and Guest Relations to anticipate guest needs, honour special requests and assist with VIP arrivals.
Adhere to and promote personalised guest service protocols aligned with the Roseate Hotels & Resorts philosophy of mindful, attentive hospitality.
Health, Safety & Compliance
Ensure full compliance with all health and safety legislation, COSHH regulations and hotel policies within the Housekeeping department.
Ensure safe storage and correct handling of all cleaning materials, chemicals and equipment at all times.
Participate in health and safety briefings and toolbox talks, ensuring all team members are trained and compliant.
Adhere to the hotel's Lost and Found procedures with complete accuracy and discretion.
Assist in maintaining cleaning schedules, chemical usage logs and equipment records as directed by the Housekeeping Manager.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
Essential Experience & Qualifications
Minimum 12 years' experience in a housekeeping role within a luxury four- or five-star hotel, with some supervisory or team-leading responsibility.
Proven ability to maintain and uphold high standards of cleanliness and presentation in a fast-paced hotel environment.
Sound working knowledge of housekeeping operations, including room management and linen stock control.
Good understanding of COSHH, health and safety legislation and best practices in a hotel environment.
Experience using hotel property management systems (e.g. Opera Cloud) is advantageous.

Desirable
Experience working within a heritage, boutique or independently owned luxury property.
Formal qualification in Hospitality Management or a related discipline.
Previous experience in a Scottish or UK independent luxury hotel.
