Job Description
A leading construction and engineering services business with a strong reputation for quality, safety and delivery across the UK. Operating at scale in an environment where people, performance and precision matter, the business is entering an exciting phase of expansion under newly appointed HR leadership.
This is a business with serious growth ambitions, investing in new contracts, people capability and infrastructure. As the organisation scales, it's building a modern, commercially focused People function that supports its operational excellence and long-term success.
The HR Business Partner position is designed to provide hands-on partnership to Managing Directors and senior operational leaders across major divisions. You'll be the go-to HR adviser for your business area, balancing day-to-day pragmatism with longer-term strategic input. Working closely with the HR Director, you'll play a key role in shaping a proactive, service-oriented HR team and embedding consistent, best-practice people standards across sites and projects.
This is a five-day-a-week, office-based role - ideal for someone who thrives on face-to-face relationships, collaboration and visibility in a fast-moving operational setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with divisional MDs and senior leaders to deliver practical, commercially sound people solutions that support business delivery and growth.
- Lead workforce planning and resourcing initiatives to attract, develop and retain skilled blue-collar and professional talent across multiple sites.
- Coach and support managers to build leadership capability, drive accountability and manage performance effectively.
- Advise on employee relations, organisational design, succession planning and talent development.
- Ensure fair, consistent and pragmatic ER outcomes, balancing compliance with operational needs.
- Collaborate with colleagues across Reward, Learning & Development and Wellbeing to implement company-wide initiatives.
- Use data and insight to identify trends, workforce risks and opportunities for improvement.
- Promote an inclusive, safety-first and values-driven culture across all parts of the workforce.
We're looking for a confident, down-to-earth HR professional who understands the realities of a site-based, delivery-driven environment. Someone comfortable influencing at all levels, with the resilience and credibility to make things happen.
You'll bring:
- Strong generalist HR experience gained in construction, civil engineering or a comparable operationally complex, site-based sector (essential).
- Proven credibility partnering with senior leaders and operational teams.
- Deep understanding of workforce planning and resourcing challenges in project-based environments.
- Sound working knowledge of employment law, employee relations and change management.
- A pragmatic, commercially aware mindset with strong interpersonal skills.
Why Join
- Work directly with the HR Director committed to developing a best-in-class People function.
- Be part of a high-growth company with clear progression opportunities as the team expands.
- Play a visible role in shaping the organisation's next chapter of growth and culture.
- Join a collaborative, values-driven environment where HR is integral to business success.
