Job Purpose and Summary
Canon UK are looking for a H&S & Product Safety Specialist . This role is fundamental to the organisation’s ability to operate safely, legally, and responsibly. It provides the essential frameworks, expert guidance, and legislative insight required to ensure full compliance with legal obligations while safeguarding the wellbeing of our employees and everyone who interacts with our products and services. It has responsibility for H&S within The Bower, other UK offices and UK CBS sites. Additionally, it provides cover for the employee responsible for H&S and Quality (ISO9001) within the DP&S Service Organisation.

What we ask
Key responsibilities:
Support the establishment of company H & S Objectives and develop and implement Health & Safety management systems, policy and process documentation accordingly
Reporting:
Develop and distribute approved Health, Safety and Quality information and related communication
Provide reports for the board regarding performance of H & S
Provide information for the Annual General meeting for ISO45001
Measure and report the effectiveness of Health & Safety training and awareness programmes
Help to raise general H&S awareness
Training:
Develop and implement Health, Safety and Quality training needs analysis mechanisms.
Deliver Internal Fire Marshal training
Develop, implement, and maintain Health & Safety training (WorkRite) for all employees
Audits (internal and external):
Manage ISO45001 Health & Safety internal company wide and ISO9001 Internal Quality Audits for Canon Business Services (CBS)
Represent Canon at external ISO45001, ISO9001 (CBS) during external BSI continuing assessments or re-certification audits
With appropriate resource, resolve non-conformance issues and act on opportunities for improvement
Certification:
Manage ISO9001 CBS QMS Framework
Ensure certifications are maintained and displayed as appropriate (including certificate of employers’ liability insurance)
Conduct Health and Safety Risk Assessments, such as, but not limited to:
Covid
Expectant mother
Abnormal situations
Annual Sellafield
CoSHH
Site Assessments
DSE
Occupational Health
Make reasonable adjustments as needed upon review
Manage Health and Safety legislation and regulatory compliance with external authorities and jointly manage the accident investigation process as needed – including reporting accidents to RIDDOR where required
Establish annual Safety Inspection programme, disseminate and monitor
Review and update Legal Register, Risk & Opportunities Register, Interested parties index
Chair the H&S Management Systems review meetings.
Be the formal responder to BSI raised issues via BSI Portal and carry out required administration of said portal
Be the main point of contact and expertise for CBS and facilities in relation to all health and safety matters, including ISO45001
Key Relationships:
H&S Responsible officer, team-members, facilities, CBS, HR and other employees as needed
BSI, Workrite, RIDDOR, Posturite and Customers (particularly for Canon Business Services)
Performanc Measure
Accident statistics
Completion of H&S training
Audit results
Continued certification
Personal Specification e.g. Technical skills, knowledge, experience required
Strong working knowledge of ISO9001 and ISO45001. Other certifications an advantage
Experienced implementation and maintenance of ISO Management Systems
NEBOSH nationally recognised training of Health & Safety requirements
DSE Assessor
Auditing ISO Management Systems
Valid driving license
