Job Summary
An opportunity for an experienced HSE professional to join a Global Field Services team supporting complex engineering and construction projects across the EMEA region.
This role is responsible for the development, implementation and management of health, safety and environmental systems, procedures and documentation across field service and construction activities.
The successful candidate will work closely with project managers, construction managers and field service teams to identify risks, ensure compliance and continuously improve safety, quality and environmental performance.
This is a dynamic position requiring a flexible individual with strong technical knowledge, a hands-on approach and the ability to support both office and site-based operations.
Key Responsibilities for HSE Engineer
Health, Safety and Environmental Management
* Develop, implement and maintain HSE policies and procedures in line with local and international regulations.
* Develop and maintain standard documentation packs, templates and process maps for field service activities.
* Conduct risk assessments, safety audits and site inspections to identify hazards and implement controls.
* Lead and support training programmes covering health and safety, compliance and safe systems of work.
* Track engineer safety documentation and qualifications to ensure validity and suitability prior to mobilisation.
* Support contractor and freelance engineer onboarding, including audits, vetting and compliance checks.
* Complete pre-mobilisation checks to verify subcontractor competency, qualifications and compliance with project requirements.
* Investigate workplace incidents, accidents and near misses, ensuring corrective actions are implemented and recorded.
* Manage calibration and certification records for critical equipment including pressure systems, monitors, measuring devices and lifting equipment.
Training and Awareness
* Organise and deliver HSE training programmes across field service teams.
* Promote a strong safety culture through awareness campaigns and best practice guidance.
* Encourage employee engagement in health, safety and environmental initiatives.
Performance Monitoring and Reporting
* Track HSE performance metrics, including incidents, audits and KPIs.
* Investigate incidents, non-conformances and safety concerns, identifying root causes and corrective actions.
* Support continuous improvement through reporting, trend analysis and performance reviews.
Candidate Requirements
Qualifications
* Degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, Quality Management or a related field .
* HSE-related certifications highly desirable, including NEBOSH, ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.
Experience
* Minimum of 10 years’ experience in HSE coordination, management or a similar role.
* Experience within Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, Power or related industrial sectors .
* Strong knowledge of HSE regulations, standards and industry best practices.
* Proven experience of audits, risk assessments and incident investigations.
* Strong organisational, leadership and communication skills.
* Confident using Microsoft Office, Teams, Excel and project management tools.
* Hands-on approach to health and safety, both on site and in office environments.
* Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously.
Desirable Certifications
* NEBOSH or equivalent health and safety qualification.
Travel Requirements
* Full UK driving licence required.
* Willingness to travel extensively, including by air, road, boat and helicopter where required.
The role requires flexibility to respond to changing business needs, including occasional evening, weekend and short-notice travel requirements
