HSE Manager - Chemicals Manufacturing - Manchester - £50-60k + benefits

The Opportunity

We’re supporting a growing speciality chemicals manufacturer to appoint a QHSE Manager at their COMAH-regulated site.

You’ll take ownership of site-wide QHSE strategy, working closely with senior leadership to ensure risk is effectively managed and controls are embedded in day-to-day operations.

The Role

This is a hands-on leadership role with full responsibility for the site’s QHSE framework, ensuring compliance while driving a practical, risk-based approach.

Key responsibilities include:

* Leading COMAH compliance and regulatory engagement (HSE & Environment Agency)

* Supporting emergency planning, MAPP development, and regulatory inspections

* Driving process safety and major hazard risk management (COSHH, Human Factors, safety-critical tasks)

* Overseeing and embedding Management of Change (MOC)

* Leading incident investigations and ensuring learning is implemented

* Managing environmental compliance, monitoring, and improvement initiatives

* Overseeing occupational health and exposure risk management

* Maintaining and improving ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001 systems

* Driving a strong, practical safety culture across site

About You

We’re open to two profiles:

* An experience in HSE/QHSE within chemicals, manufacturing, or COMAH environments

* Strong grounding in risk assessment, audits, and compliance

* Ready to take ownership and step into a site leadership role

* Ambitious, proactive, and confident influencing site teams

Or

* A proven experience leading QHSE within process or high-hazard industries

* Looking to step into or further develop within a COMAH-regulated / upper-tier environment

* Strong understanding of process safety and regulatory engagement
