Are you passionate about protecting water resources and driving environmental resilience? Anglian Water is seeking a Hydrogeologist to lead critical investigation projects that shape our future water quality and resource strategies. This is a unique opportunity to apply your hydrogeological expertise in a role that blends technical project management, stakeholder engagement, and environmental risk assessment.
About the role
As a Hydrogeologist, you'll play a key role in managing technical groundwater investigation projects that assess quality risks to our water sources, particularly from PFAS and other anthropogenic contaminants. Working within the Water Resources and Drought Team, you'll oversee project delivery, support drought response and water quality initiatives, and contribute to the safe execution of capital programmes such as borehole rehabilitation and quality/yield investigations. Your work will support the development of future water resource strategies and investment planning.
What you'll be doing:
- Managing day-to-day delivery of groundwater quality-related projects and consultant/contractor relationships.
- Supporting the safe and efficient delivery of groundwater-related capital programmes (e.g. borehole rehabilitation, water quality investigations).
- Ensuring full compliance with Health & Safety standards and CDM regulations.
- Liaising with external stakeholders such as the Environment Agency to ensure regulatory compliance.
- Providing technical input to support future investment planning and business risk mitigation.
- Supporting source protection through catchment monitoring and investigation.
- A postgraduate degree in hydrogeology or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
- Proven project management skills and experience delivering technical projects.
- Working knowledge of water quality, water resources, and contaminated land regulations.
- Strong organisational and communication skills, with the ability to present technical information to technical and non-technical audiences.
- A proactive, safety-conscious mindset and a commitment to continuous improvement.
- Personal private health care including physiotherapy
- 24-hour Virtual GP service for you and your household
- 26 days annual leave - rising with length of service
- Competitive pension scheme - Anglian Water double-matches your contributions up to 6%
- Business use of company van plus access to tools and all uniform and PPE
- Bonus scheme
- Flexible benefits and working culture to support your wellbeing and lifestyle.
- Life Assurance at 8 times your salary
- Personal Accident cover - up to 5 times your salary
- Paid time off when you're physically and mentally unwell
- An excellent Family Leave package - to help you support your family including enhanced maternity, paternity, and shared parental leave policies.
Inclusion is for everyone, and we are an equal opportunity employer, which means we'll consider all suitably qualified applicants regardless of gender identity or expression, ethnic origin, nationality, religion or beliefs, age, sexual orientation, disability status or any other protected characteristic.
