\n \n What You’ll Be Doing:\n
\n \nLead the Charge: Maintain independent inspection, surveillance, and concurrence of nuclear work across facilities, plant, equipment, and support services, both on-board and on-site. \n
\nEvaluate Safety: Assess nuclear and radiological safety and security performance against relevant legislation to ensure compliance. \n
\nSupervise Progress: Oversee inspections and assessments to advance submarine builds and projects through the ‘Hold Point Control’ process. \n
\nCommunicate Effectively: Share inspection conclusions and findings with stakeholders at all levels, including external regulators and senior management. \n
\nSupport Emergency Preparedness: Assist in the independent assessment of emergency arrangements and provide constructive feedback. \n
\nEnsure Safety Standards: Provide oversight and challenge to safety and security committees to uphold nuclear safety. \n
\nDevelop Assurance Plans: Create and maintain individual Assurance Plans aligned with key business projects. \n
\nPeer Review Oversight: Maintain oversight of Independent Peer Review of safety documentation. \n
\n \n Your Skills and Experiences:\n
Essential:
\n
\n Experience in a Nuclear or Highly Regulated Environment or in a Quality/Safety role. \n
Ability to evaluate challenges and provide influential solutions. \n
Self-motivated, organized, and methodical in your approach. \n
Excellent communication skills. \n
\n \n
Desirable:
\n
\n Experience in auditing inspections. \n
Knowledge of nuclear site license conditions and security regulations. \n
Experience in submarine build, testing, and commissioning. \n
A degree or equivalent in a STEM subject. \n

\n \n About the Independent Nuclear Assurance Team:\n
As an Independent Nuclear Assurance Inspector, you’ll be part of a dedicated team of regulatory inspectors reporting to the Senior Engineering Manager. Our team acts as the internal regulator for the Submarines business, providing an evidence-based view of nuclear and radiological safety and security performance.

With a comprehensive inspection program, you’ll have the opportunity to influence change at every level of the business, enhancing the safety of our boat delivery programs. Enjoy the of this role—one day you might conduct an on-board inspection, and the next, you could be interviewing a director about specific business requirements.
