In-house VAT Manager, Financial Services

Canary Wharf (hybrid working, 50% office presence)

Up to £90,000 + 20-30% bonus


A US-headed financial services business is hiring for a newly created VAT Manager role, based in the Canary-Wharf based tax team. Reporting to the Head of Tax, the successful candidate will provide first line oversight and support across the Group’s VAT compliance and advisory agenda, taking ownership of complex VAT reporting, overseeing VAT governance, and delivering high impact technical advice to Finance, Investments and wider business functions.


Working with Big 4 advisors, the role requires significant autonomy and expert judgement, influencing operational, commercial and structural decisions while strengthening the Group’s Tax risk management and control framework.


Though in-house experience is considered helpful, we anticipate this makes a wonderful opportunity for a first move in-house for FS VAT Manager coming from a Big 4 environment looking to take ownership of an in-house indirect tax function.


The successful candidate


  • Operating at VAT Manager level, coming from either an in-house or practice background
  • Experience managing/following PESMs essential
  • UK VAT specialism required – experience with US-headed groups considered advantageous
  • Financial services experience
  • Strong technological proficiency
