Contract (Fractional) - Infrastructure Engineer (Maintenance) 2 days per week | Remote (UK only)
£450-£550 pd Outside
We're partnered with an AI-powered video analytics platform helping organisations unlock real-time insights from across spaces. They're looking for an Infrastructure Engineer focused on stability, reliability, and maintenance of production systems, not so much building new features, but ensuring everything runs smoothly and efficiently.
This role is ideal for someone who enjo ys owning live environments , solvin g problems methodically, and keeping complex systems operating at a high standard.
The Role
You'll be responsible for maintaining their existing infrastructure across cloud, networking, and on-prem environments - This includes:
Cloud Infrastructure (GCP & AWS)
Managing a GKE Kubernetes cluster (node health, node pools, upgrades)
Maintaining monitoring stack ( Prometheus, Alertmanager, Grafana )
Supporting services including GCS, Cloud DNS, IAM, TimescaleDB, Auth0, GitLab, AWS SES
Working with Infrastructure-as-Code (OpenTofu/Terraform) and GitOps tooling (ArgoCD, Helm)
Platform Applications
Supporting 10 services deployed via ArgoCD
Performing Helm chart updates , resource tuning, and sync reviews
Maintaining internal tooling (n8n, cert-manager, ingress, observability stack)
Networking & Connectivity
Setting up and maintaining IPSec tunnels (StrongSwan) with customer environments
Managing WireGuard VPNs
Maintaining NAT gateways and iptables rules
Camera & Streaming Infrastructure
Configuring and onboarding camera streams onto the platform
Managing MediaMTX streaming servers (cloud + on-prem)
Secrets & Access
Managing encrypted secrets using SOPS + GCP KMS
Rotating credentials and maintaining secure access controls
What We're Looking For
Strong Linux fundamentals and confidence working in the terminal
Solid understanding of networking concepts (VPNs, routing, firewalls)
Experience maintaining production infrastructure (not just building it)
A methodical, problem-solving mindset - comfortable reading docs and figuring things out
Exposure to tools like Kubernetes, Terraform/OpenTofu, ArgoCD, or similar (nice to have, not essential)
