Infrastructure Virtualisation Engineer

The Infrastructure Virtualisation Engineering team designs, builds and validates the core virtual estate for a secure, multi‑site platform. The role covers design artefacts, system testing and resolving complex virtualisation issues in partnership with Service Management.

Essential Skills & Experience

Minimum 3 years’ hands‑on experience designing, implementing and troubleshooting:

VMware ESXi

*

Distributed Virtual Switches

*

DRS / DPM

VMware vSAN

*

Hybrid & all‑flash storage

VMware vCenter

*

HA, clustering, cross‑site resiliency

VMware NSX

*

Micro‑segmentation

*

Cross‑site NSX deployments

VMware Horizon

*

AppVolumes

*

AppStacks

Additional requirements:

*

Recent virtualisation certification (e.g., VCP).

*

Strong communication, analytical and critical‑thinking skills.

*

Active SC clearance.

*

Competent with Microsoft Office.

Desirable Experience

*

Delivery within UK public‑sector or secure government environments.

*

Experience delivering accredited secure solutions.

*

Agile and Waterfall delivery exposure.

*

Supporting large‑scale enterprise virtualisation estates.

*

Jira and Confluence familiarity.

*

Networking certification (CCNA, NSX‑DC) or equivalent experience.

*

Degree in Computer Science or related field.

*

Designing secure multi‑tenant architectures.

*

Chartered Engineer status or working toward it.
