In-House Legal Counsel (Mid–Senior Level)

Essex | Hybrid Working


We are partnering with a well-established national organisation with a strong community presence to recruit an experienced In-House Legal Counsel to join their team in Essex.


This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded lawyer seeking a broad and impactful in-house role within a purpose-led environment.


The Role

Reporting into senior leadership, you will provide pragmatic, commercially focused legal advice across a diverse range of matters, including:

  • Commercial contracts (supplier, services, partnerships, procurement)
  • Property matters, including leases, licences and estate management
  • Charity law and regulatory compliance
  • Governance and trustee support
  • Data protection and risk management
  • General corporate and operational legal matters


You will work closely with stakeholders across the organisation, providing clear, solutions-oriented advice that supports operational delivery while managing risk effectively.


About You

  • UK qualified Solicitor or Barrister with ideally 5+ years’ PQE
  • Strong commercial contracts experience
  • Experience advising within the charity or not-for-profit sector highly desirable
  • Working knowledge of charity governance and regulatory frameworks
  • Property law experience advantageous
  • Prior in-house experience desirable but not essential
  • Able to communicate complex legal issues clearly to non-legal stakeholders
  • Comfortable operating with autonomy in a broad, hands-on role
