Installation and Maintenance Engineer

Our client is growing engineering business based in Stockport is looking for an experienced Installation and Maintenance Engineer to join its expanding team. They specialises in the design and build of advanced inspection and simulation machines, working with customers globally.
This is an exciting opportunity to work with cutting-edge technology, supporting the installation, maintenance, and optimisation of complex systems both in the UK and internationally.
As an Installation and Maintenance Engineer, you will play a key role in delivering technical support, installations, and service activities while ensuring systems perform at the highest level. You will also support junior engineers and work closely with internal teams to continually improve system performance and customer experience.
Key Responsibilities:
* Technical Support & Troubleshooting - Diagnose and resolve complex hardware and software issues, leading service interventions and projects.
* Installation & Commissioning - Install and commission specialist inspection and simulation machines at customer sites.
* Mentoring & Training - Support and mentor junior engineers, providing guidance on best practices and advanced troubleshooting techniques.
* System Performance Management - Conduct system audits, performance checks, and reliability assessments.
* Customer Engagement - Build strong relationships with customers, providing clear feedback, product guidance, and technical support.
* Documentation & Reporting - Maintain accurate records of service activities, system configurations, and maintenance work.
* Safety & Compliance - Ensure all work complies with company procedures, industry standards, and safety regulations.
* Cross-Team Collaboration - Work closely with design and product development teams to resolve technical issues and improve systems.
We’re looking for an experienced engineer with strong technical knowledge and a proactive, customer-focused approach.
About you:
* Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Electronic, Computer Science) or equivalent experience.
* Experience in an engineering role with proven troubleshooting and repair of complex systems.
* Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, or electronic systems.
* Experience working with Operational Technology (OT) systems or Distributed Control Systems (DCS) would be advantageous.
* Excellent problem-solving, communication, and customer service skills.
* Ability to mentor others and work collaboratively across teams.
Travel & Working Pattern
* International travel required up to 8 trips per year, typically no more than 2 weeks at a time.
* Travel often combines installation and service visits for overseas clients.
* When not travelling, you will primarily be based in the Stockport workshop, building systems and providing remote customer support.
Additional Requirements
* Full UK driving licence
* Valid passport with no travel restrictions
* Flexibility to travel internationally and work varied hours during trips
* Proactive approach to system improvement and preventative maintenance
* Must have the right to work in the UK (visa sponsorship is not available)
