Installation/Maintenance Engineer
Location: Stockport (with national and international travel)
Salary: Up to £50,000 + Annual Discretionary Bonus + Pension

I am working with a well-established client based in Stockport, a specialist in the design and build of inspection and simulation machines. Due to continued growth, they are expanding their team and seeking an Installation/Maintenance Engineer to join their workforce. This is a fantastic opportunity to work on cutting-edge technology in a dynamic and growing business.
Key Responsibilities:
Installation/Maintenance Engineer will provide advanced technical support, diagnosing and troubleshooting complex hardware and software issues across a range of systems.
Leading service interventions and supporting installation and maintenance projects both on-site and remotely.
Mentoring and guiding junior engineers, delivering training on best practices, new features, and advanced fault-finding techniques.
Monitoring system performance, conducting audits, and ensuring optimal reliability and efficiency of equipment.
Maintaining detailed documentation of service activities, system configurations, and maintenance work.
Building strong relationships with customers, providing clear technical feedback, and ensuring maximum value from installed systems.
Ensuring all work complies with company policies, industry standards, and health & safety regulations.
Collaborating with design and product development teams to resolve technical issues and support continuous improvement.
Supporting workshop-based system builds and providing remote customer support when not travelling.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline (Mechanical, Electrical, Computer Science) or equivalent experience.
Typically 5+ years' experience in an engineering role, with proven ability in diagnosing and repairing complex systems.
Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, or electronic systems.
Experience with Operational Technology (OT) systems or Distributed Control Systems (DCS) is advantageous.
Excellent problem-solving skills and analytical thinking.
Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Full UK driving licence and valid passport with no travel restrictions – essential.
Additional Requirements:
Willingness to travel internationally (typically up to 2 weeks at a time, up to 8 trips per year).
Flexibility to work varied hours during travel to meet installation and service requirements.
Proactive mindset with a focus on continuous improvement and preventative maintenance.
Strong commitment to customer service and delivering high-quality support.
Professional attitude with the ability to represent the business on-site with clients.
Must be eligible to work in the UK (visa sponsorship not available).
