Role Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled High Voltage Installation Engineer to lead and supervise the installation of high-voltage electrical systems on substation projects across the UK. As a High Voltage Installation Engineer, you will manage site teams, ensure safety and quality compliance, and coordinate with project managers, engineers, and clients. This role is ideal for experienced professionals with a background in electrical or mechanical engineering and a passion for delivering complex high-voltage projects.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a hands-on Installation Engineer looking to take ownership of critical substation works and make an impact on the UK’s power infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

Supervise and coordinate the installation of AIS busbars up to 400kV. Oversee installation of HV equipment including CTs, CVTs, busbars, post insulators, and support structures. Plan work efficiently, organizing plant, materials, and site facilities to meet project deadlines. Resolve technical issues and unexpected challenges during installation. Ensure all work is carried out according to approved RAMS, ITPs, and check sheets. Liaise with project managers, engineers, and client representatives for smooth site execution. Maintain high standards of health, safety, and environmental compliance. Provide guidance, mentoring, and support to site teams. Review and maintain accurate documentation of all installation works.

Essential Requirements

Proven experience as a High Voltage Installation Engineer in substation works. Competence in installing AIS systems up to 400kV. Experience installing HV equipment and components. Strong knowledge of documentation processes including RAMS, ITPs, and check sheets. Excellent leadership and communication skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure.

Desirable Qualifications / Experience

Experience in transformer and GIS installation. Grid authorisations. Previous work with Grid, SSE, or Scottish Power. Relevant electrical or engineering qualifications.
