Interim Financial Accountant Hybrid Up to 260 per day Start Date: May 2026 (contract likely to last up to 9 months) Hays are working with a large public sector organisation in the Edinburgh area who are seeking an experienced Interim Financial Accountant to support its finance function during a key operational period. This hybrid opportunity offers a balance of office collaboration and flexible home working. As Interim Financial Accountant, you will be responsible for delivering accurate and timely financial reports, supporting both day-to-day finance operations and wider organisational objectives. You'll work closely with senior leadership and operational teams to ensure financial stability and informed decision-making during a period of change. Prepare monthly and quarterly management accounts. Support year-end processes, including audit preparation and liaison with external auditors. Produce accurate financial statements, reconciliations, and variance analysis. Maintain and enhance internal financial controls and compliance frameworks. Partner with non finance stakeholders to interpret financial performance and provide commercial insight. Identify and implement improvements to financial processes and reporting.
