Interim Head of FP&A - Higher Education 4 Month Contract | ASAP Start £400-£500 per day (Inside IR35) Onsite: 3 days per week
A leading UK university is seeking an Interim Head of FP&A to provide senior financial leadership during a critical planning and reporting period. This is a high-impact role suited to an experienced FP&A leader who can quickly assess, stabilise, and enhance financial planning processes in a complex organisation.
You will lead the FP&A function, support executive decision-making, and ensure robust forecasting, budgeting, and performance reporting across the institution.
Key responsibilities
Lead institutional budgeting, forecasting, and long-range financial planning
Provide strategic financial insight to the Executive and senior academic leaders
Strengthen FP&A processes, reporting frameworks, and financial models
Deliver clear performance reporting and scenario analysis
Partner with stakeholders across faculties and professional services
Manage and support a high-performing FP&A team during transition
About you
Proven senior FP&A leadership experience in a large, complex organisation (HE or public sector desirable)
Strong financial modelling and analytical capability
Confident communicator at Executive level
Able to deliver quickly in an interim, fast-moving environment
