  • Location – The Compass Centre, TW6 2GW - 3 days onsite required
  • Contract Length / Type – 6 month contract, Inside IR35

    You will work in partnership with the internal communications team and your designated business unit(s) to deliver Internal Communications support across Client. Your ideas, project management and creative approach will help ensure the Internal Communications Team support the business and showcases the value of great internal communications.


    You will be responsible for developing creative, innovative approaches to communicating with colleagues, and producing content for multiple channels. You will be expected to have a good understanding of the business and the challenges facing teams around the airport.


    Your own communication skills will help ensure Client's vision and corporate narrative is supported and championed. You will help offer guidance and support and problem solve for your business areas – you will be seen as a communications expert with a strong understanding of how to drive engagement and promote pride and trust through strategic communications.


    You will be a proactive communicator who reaches outside of the business to benchmark and apply best practice approaches to internal communications.


    You will play an important part in ensuring that the Internal Communications Team supports Client's vision of “To be an extraordinary airport, fit for the future” while building trust and pride amongst all colleagues.


    Key responsibilities:


    Help embed the corporate strategy across Client's through daily communications

    Work closely with the Senior Editorial Manager to develop communications strategies and tactics to support the business, and suggest innovative ways to approach challenges

    Promote the role of Internal Communications to the wider business, demonstrating how it is ‘adding value’ to the business

    Work closely with the specific teams in your remit, taking clear ownership for and ensuring consistent and delivery of the corporate narrative and business priorities

    Work with stakeholders to draft, agree and implement communications plans and strategies which support their business needs and challenges

    The Role Holder will be part of a ‘one communication team’ approach, demonstrating the flexibility to operate within different functional teams as the need arises.

    Required to do “H2H” and “R2H” shifts across the year

    Possible requirement to be part of the IRT (Incident Response Teams – crisis communications) and required to be part of the Comms Cuts roster


    Qualifications and Experience


    Proven mid-level internal communications and engagement experience

    A track record in a similarly demanding or comparably sized organisation

    Confident multi-channel communicator who likes embracing change and spotting improvements, and helping others to do so

    Ability to work, at times, in a changing environment with some level of ambiguity while able to self-manage and sometimes to tight timeframes, and under pressure

    Experience of working with internal clients, and gaining their trust through advising and influencing on comms best practice and solutions in a fast-paced change environment

    Ability to challenge and push the thinking of others outside normal practices and be the trusted comms and engagement advisor

    Understanding and experience of creating comms and engagement metrics to ensure the success of the plan and ability to drive change when these might not be working

    Confident managing upwards and working with more senior stakeholders
