HSBC Ventures is one of the key pillars of HSBC ETIV (Emerging Technology, Innovation and Ventures), focused on accelerating innovation at HSBC through minority equity investments in emerging companies relevant to Financial Services.
In this fantastic, new, senior role, you will joining a global leading Corporate Venture Capital team and be responsible for providing exposure to the most innovative areas of financial services and technology to inform the firm ' s strategic decisions. You will cover various business units and technology teams. You will build and maintain close links and relationships with innovative companies, investors and the wider ecosystem to facilitate early adoption by the firm and its customers of new products and services. Your goal will be to deliver a gross annual strategic and financial return on money invested in line with HSBC Ventures teams' objectives, while building and executing on a pipeline of potential investments and working with existing portfolio companies .
In this role, duties will include:
- Driving the identification of innovative companies and technologies and ultimately building and executing on a pipeline of potential investments.
- Leading negotiations and due diligence on investment targets and presenting such opportunities to the IC.
- Taking up Board Director or Observer seats on portfolio companies and be a primary point of contact for the company internally and externally to help identify new revenue opportunities and advise on the company's strategy.
- Regularly reviewing portfolio performance and exit opportunities, and execution of such opportunities.
- Leading in the evaluation of investment opportunities by undertaking detailed quantitative and qualitative analysis.
- Overseeing preparation of investment paper submissions and management of internal approval processes.
- Leading the investment execution process including negotiation of terms, due diligence and approvals.
- Monitoring of investment performance and portfolio company development internally and externally.
