Job Description
Job Title: KS2 Progress Leader
We're currently working with an excellent independent all-through school in Reading who are looking for a KS2 Progress Leader to join their team in September. The role can pay on the Leadership Scale for the right candidate , with the school looking to hold initial, pre screening video interviews in April.
Job Purpose
- Lead Key Stage 2 (KS2) and report to the Headteacher
- Maintain high standards of pupil attainment, achievement, and progress
- Support innovative teaching approaches, including self-directed learning
- Provide strong classroom leadership and promote excellent teaching practice
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Management
- Lead the day-to-day management of KS2
- Support, inspire, and manage teaching staff
- Contribute to the Senior Leadership Team
- Promote high standards of achievement, behaviour, and development
- Set and monitor pupil progress targets using assessment data
- Support whole-school development and initiatives
- Attend leadership and curriculum meetings
- Oversee pastoral care, safeguarding, and health & safety
- Monitor student outcomes and ensure progress for all learners
- Lead transition projects and develop community links
- Support performance management, including lesson observations
- Coach staff in effective teaching and curriculum planning
- Maintain and improve teaching standards and outcomes
Teaching Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality KS2 teaching in line with professional standards
- Plan engaging, differentiated lessons for all learners
- Use assessment to track and support pupil progress
- Create a safe, positive, and stimulating learning environment
- Promote high expectations of behaviour
- Maintain accurate records and communicate with parents
- Lead support staff within the classroom
- Set and mark work in line with school policies
- Participate in meetings and professional development
- Keep up to date with curriculum and teaching innovation
General Duties
- Work with external agencies where required
- Contribute to performance management and development
- Promote the school’s ethos and values
- Build positive relationships with staff, pupils, and parents
- Ensure safeguarding and statutory compliance
- Undertake additional duties as directed
Reporting
- Reports to: Headteacher
- Responsible for: KS2 staff and support staff

- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- Degree-level qualification
- Strong communication and organisational skills
