Job Description
Role Overview
We are seeking a hands-on Lab Engineer to support cutting-edge robotics programs focused on next-generation human-assistive robots. This role is centered around hardware, control systems, and electro-mechanical debugging, ensuring robotic platforms operate reliably for research and real-world applications.
You will be responsible for maintaining and troubleshooting robotic systems that are actively used in testing environments, ensuring minimal downtime and enabling seamless R&D operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair electro-mechanical issues in robotic systems (motors, control boards, wiring, sensors).
- Perform hands-on debugging and rectification of robots that fail operational tasks or do not execute commands correctly.
- Disassemble and reassemble robotic components to identify and fix faults.
- Support deployment, maintenance, and upgrades of robotics platforms across lab environments.
- Work closely with R&D teams to test, validate, and improve system performance.
- Maintain accurate documentation for troubleshooting, repairs, and system changes.
- Read and interpret engineering schematics and system diagrams.
- Ensure lab/workshop compliance with health & safety standards and SOPs.
- Collaborate with global teams to ensure consistency across sites.
Required Skills & Experience
- Background in Electrical / Mechanical / Robotics Engineering or related field.
- Hands-on experience with robotics systems, electro-mechanical debugging, or hardware repair.
- Strong understanding of control systems and embedded hardware behavior.
- Experience working in labs, workshops, or prototyping environments.
- Ability to troubleshoot motors, boards, wiring, and system-level issues.
- Basic Linux knowledge for diagnostics and debugging (not software development).
- Ability to read and understand technical schematics and engineering drawings.
- Strong problem-solving skills with a practical, hands-on approach.
Preferred Experience
- Prior experience in robotics maintenance or support roles.
- Exposure to start-up or fast-paced R&D environments.
- Familiarity with root cause analysis (RCA) and failure diagnostics.
Soft Skills
- Self-starter with the ability to work with minimal supervision
- Strong communication and documentation skills
- Collaborative and team-oriented mindset
- Adaptable in a fast-paced, evolving environment
Key Note
This is a hardware/control systems-focused role, not a software development position. Candidates should have strong hands-on experience in debugging and repairing electro-mechanical systems, particularly within robotics or similar domains.
