Job Description
Laboratory Technician
Location: Bracknell
Rate: £13.62 per hour
Working Arrangement: Fully on-site
Opportunities Available: 2 positions
Start Date: ASAP
Contract Length: 12 Months
Role Purpose
To support daily laboratory operations within a multidisciplinary scientific research environment by providing essential laboratory services. This includes ensuring the availability of clean and sterilised glassware, maintaining stock levels of consumables, and managing the efficient receipt and distribution of laboratory deliveries.
Key Responsibilities
Glassware & Sterilisation
Wash, clean, and prepare laboratory glassware to required standards
Operate autoclaves to sterilise glassware and laboratory utensils
Organise and store clean glassware for easy access by laboratory staff
Consumables & Inventory
Maintain adequate stock levels of laboratory consumables
Conduct regular inventory checks and identify replenishment needs
Deliveries & Logistics
Receive, log, and process incoming laboratory parcels and deliveries
Distribute items to appropriate laboratory areas
Handle temperature-sensitive or hazardous materials in line with safety protocols
Technical Skills & Personal Capabilities
Ability to safely operate autoclaves and laboratory washing equipment
Understanding of sterilisation procedures
Competent with computer systems, including MS Office
Able to carry out routine tasks accurately and follow defined procedures
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage time effectively
Self‑motivated with the ability to work independently and within a team
Flexible and adaptable to changing business or customer needs
Effective communication skills
Strong attention to detail and record‑keeping abilities
Education & Experience
Educated to at least A‑level standard (or equivalent) in Biology or Chemistry
Good working knowledge of laboratory operations and safety practices
Experience with autoclaves or sterilisation equipment desirable (training provided)
Stock management or inventory control experience desirable (training provided)
