The Role
Wayve seeks a Lead Architect to define and lead the system architecture of the Wayve Portal—a secure, cloud-based SaaS platform for partners to access software releases, performance data, and transfer data efficiently. The platform will also support validation, AI training, and data curation, empowering partners to develop autonomous driving AI independently.
You will act as the technical authority for architectural integrity across all modules, collaborating with third-party engineering teams to ensure a robust, scalable, and secure architecture that meets enterprise standards across OEM environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Architect the full-stack Wayve Portal platform, including frontend, backend, APIs, IAM, observability, and cloud infrastructure.
- Design for scalability, modularity, and high availability, supporting managed service and OEM self-service deployment models.
- Maintain architecture blueprints, decision logs, schema definitions, and interface contracts.
- Define and uphold non-functional requirements such as performance, security, availability, and disaster recovery.
- Partner with IAM and Security teams to validate authentication workflows, RBAC policies, token management, and audit mechanisms.
- Ensure compliance with standards and regulations (e.g., GDPR, ISO 27001), embedding privacy-by-design and auditability.
- Oversee CI/CD workflows, penetration testing, and SLA adherence.
- Review and approve third-party technical designs, enforcing best practices.
- Lead architecture and code reviews, ensuring adherence to guardrails and quality standards.
- Define integration patterns for tools like Databricks, Sigma, Jama, and guide their secure implementation.
- Shape cloud infrastructure strategy with a preference for Azure, maintaining cloud-agnostic principles.
- Support environment provisioning, build pipelines, and observability tooling.
- Make decisions on data storage, API gateway architecture, caching, and deployment orchestration.
Success in This Role Means
- The Wayve Portal architecture remains scalable and resilient as it supports multiple OEMs.
- Engineering vendors deliver secure, maintainable, and performant code aligned with architecture.
- Technical debt is minimized, and onboarding new OEMs or services is smooth.
About You
To succeed as a Lead Architect at Wayve, you should have:
- 8+ years of experience in solution architecture, focusing on cloud-native SaaS platforms.
- Strong knowledge of modern web architectures, RESTful APIs, microservices, and containers.
- Expertise in security frameworks like OAuth2, SAML, SSO, token authentication, and audit logging.
- Experience designing scalable, resilient systems using Azure, Kubernetes, or similar technologies.
- Experience leading or collaborating with external engineering teams.
- Ability to translate business needs into technical architectures.
- Proven record of architecting enterprise B2B SaaS solutions.
- Experience designing secure, multi-tenant systems that isolate customer/OEM data efficiently.
Desirable skills include familiarity with autonomous driving or automotive software, AI workflows, greenfield SaaS design, and integration with tools like Databricks, Jira, Sigma, or Jama.
