Summary: We are looking for a Lead Civil and Structural Engineer with proven experience in EPC delivery for solar and battery energy storage projects. This pivotal role involves overseeing the structural design and on-site execution of high-impact renewable projects, ensuring robust technical standards, compliance with UK regulations, and coordination across cross-functional teams to deliver world-class infrastructure on time and within scope.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead structural engineering design and execution for utility-scale solar PV and BESS EPC projects, ensuring technical excellence from concept through commissioning.
  • Conduct site assessments and civil feasibility studies with a focus on site topography, geotechnical data, and constructability.
  • Develop and review civil/structural layouts, steel and concrete design specifications, foundation plans, and earthworks tailored to solar mounting systems and battery enclosures.
  • Ensure compliance with UK building codes, CDM regulations, and project-specific quality and safety standards.
  • Perform structural load and foundation analysis for tracker, fixed-tilt, and containerized BESS applications.
  • Work closely with EPC project managers, electrical and mechanical teams to deliver integrated design solutions.
  • Oversee civil works execution on-site, including QA/QC inspections, subcontractor coordination, and schedule monitoring.
  • Lead design reviews, risk assessments, and value engineering processes to optimize cost and performance.
  • Prepare planning documentation, method statements, and structural certification reports required for regulatory approval.
  • Actively participate in and lead design coordination and progress meetings across global projects.


Qualifications:

  • Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering; postgraduate credentials or certifications in renewables/EPC are advantageous.
  • Extensive experience in structural design and delivery for solar PV and/or BESS EPC projects across the UK and/or international markets.
  • Familiarity with racking structures, ground screw and driven pile foundations, and prefabricated substation pads.
  • Chartered Engineer status (or working toward) preferred.
  • Proficiency in STAAD.Pro, AutoCAD, and other structural modeling tools. Experience with PVsyst or Helios3D is a plus.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder coordination, and technical reporting skills.
  • Strong project management capabilities with a proven track record of delivering multiple EPC projects simultaneously.
  • Passion for sustainability and desire to innovate in the fast-evolving renewable energy sector.
