Job Details We are seeking a Lead Consultant (Sustainable Traffic & Travel) within our Roads & Transportation Services. This is an exciting time to join Fife Council as we prepare to deliver major transformational improvements aligned with the ambitions of the Plan for Fife and wider regional and national priorities. You will play a key part in championing active travel and supporting Fife’s contribution to national active travel and climate targets. If you have the experience, skills and motivation to meet the key requirements of this role, we would love to hear from you. Key Areas Of Work Include
Leading the Sustainable Traffic & Travel team in developing Fife-wide proposals for reallocating road and shared spaces towards more sustainable modes Managing major projects that enhance walking, wheeling and cycling Monitoring and reviewing the Councils Active Travel Strategy and Action Plan to develop and deliver improvements to walking and cycling infrastructure Promoting sustainable transport to support local and national targets and improve access within town centres to support local economies Securing external funding and co-ordinating investment with partners including Transport Scotland, Walk Wheel Cycle Trust, Cycling Scotland and others Developing innovative funding bids to the Scottish Government and other UK funding sources for active transport initiatives Collaborating with local, regional and national partners to drive progress towards ambitious climate and active travel targets
The Person
Educated to SCQF level 9, which includes a Degree or equivalent Extensive knowledge and experience in Roads and Transportation policies and practices Professional leadership, team-building and relationship management skills Strong communication and presentation skills Strong IT skills and willingness to embrace technology Experience in preparing and managing project plans and programmes Knowledge and ability to drive forward change under challenging circumstances Possess a high degree of political awareness and sensitivity with the ability to relate to elected members Analytical, financial and budgetary management. Ability to travel within Fife.
