Lead Electrical Design Engineer\n\nLocation: Wolverhampton (Hybrid Working)\n\nSalary: Up to £69,000 + Package\n\nHours: 37 per week (flexible working)\n\nAbout the Lead Electrical Design Engineer Role\n\nWe are seeking a Lead Electrical Design Engineer to join our team in Wolverhampton.\n\nYou will lead electrical project design teams delivering complex engineering solutions from concept through to handover. Projects typically involve large-scale, high-integrity machinery and process systems for highly regulated environments, covering full lifecycle design, integration and commissioning.\n\nThese include advanced control systems, automation solutions, and safety-critical instrumentation for major Energy, Research & Defence Infrastructure & process facilities.\n\nKey Responsibilities of Lead Electrical Design Engineer\n\nLead electrical design work packages within budget and schedule\nSupervise and verify design deliverables including schematics, GA drawings, cable schedules, FDS, and software documentation\nProduce control panel designs including General Arrangements, detailed drawings, schematic diagrams, interlock diagrams for PLC & HMI hardware, motor starters & drives, safety circuits, instrumentation, and power distribution\nCoordinate with other engineering disciplines and liaise with manufacturing, testing, and commissioning teams\nEnsure compliance with UK H&S legislation and relevant standards\nParticipate in HAZOP and design reviews\nManage design change control and contract variations \n\nWhat We're Looking For in a Lead Electrical Design Engineer\n\nHNC, HND or Degree in Electrical Engineering (or similar)\nExtensive electrical design engineering experience\nPrior experience leading other Electrical / EC&I Engineers on projects\nProficient in AutoCAD/AutoCAD Electrical and MS Office\nKnowledge of British/European standards and IEC 61508 (advantageous)\nAbility to gain UK Security Clearance\nCommitment to professional development - Chartership support provided \n\nSalary & Benefits for Lead Electrical Design Engineer\n\nUp to £60k starting salary\nHybrid & flexible working\nPension: 5% employer / 5% employee + Death in Service (3× salary)\n25 days annual leave + bank holidays + option to buy/sell up to 5 additional days\nAccrue up to 5 extra days for authorised extra hours\nMembership fees paid \n\nCommutable From\nEasily accessible from Wolverhampton, Birmingham, Telford, Dudley, Walsall, Cannock, Stafford, and surrounding areas.\n\nWhy Join Us?\nWe are committed to continued investment in engineering excellence and the professional development of our people.
