Job Description

EQUANS is looking for a Lead fire Engineer to join our team in Birmingham or London on a permanent basis. This is a fulltime role working Monday to Friday. On offer is a competitive salary and benefits package. \n\nThe Lead Fire Engineer is a senior technical leader responsible for developing and delivering robust fire safety strategies across regeneration, retrofit, and new-build projects.

\n\nThis potentially includes complex occupied refurbishments and high-rise residential schemes. The role provides strategic guidance, technical assurance, and regulatory compliance, ensuring fire safety is integrated into sustainable design and digital workflows.\n\nWhat will you deliver? \n\nFire Safety Design, Strategy and Engineering Leadership\n\nCoordinate/ develop fire strategies compliant with UK Building Regulations, BS 9999, BS 7974. \nLead fire risk assessments, smoke and egress modelling, and structural fire resistance analysis.

\nProvide guidance on passive and active fire protection systems. \nIntegrate fire safety into MMC and low-carbon design solutions. \nEnsure BIM integration for fire safety elements and accurate digital records.\nCollaborate with architectural, structural, and MEP teams to embed fire safety into coordinated design solutions.Project Delivery and Risk Management\n\nReview and approve fire-related design documentation, specifications, and contractor submittals.\nOversee effective fire safety implementation during construction and commissioning.

\nAdditional qualifications or certifications in fire risk assessment, fire modelling, or building safety (e.g. NEBOSH Fire Safety, CFPA Europe) are desirable. \nAt least 10 years of experience in fire engineering, including involvement with complex projects or equivalent relevant experience.\nExperience in regulatory engagement and work winning. \n\nWho are we? \n\nEQUANS is a world leader in energy services with nearly 100,000 employees working in more than 50 countries, with an annual turnover of over 17 billion euros.
