Lead GIS and Geospatial Data Analyst
Contract: 2 Year Fixed Term (with the option to extend)
Hours: 37hrs
Working Style: Hybrid work from home and various Council workplaces.
We are seeking an enthusiastic, data-driven GIS expert to join our Data team as a Lead GIS and Geospatial Data Analyst.
You will join a growing team of data specialists, committed to data standards, quality, and visualization for the council.
As a Lead, you will develop and implement enterprise GIS infrastructure, data management, and analysis to enhance understanding and utilization of geospatial data, maximizing benefits for residents and services.
Your responsibilities include defining standards for geospatial data, maintaining metadata, developing data flows using ETL tools, supporting data quality, and developing visualization products.
This is a fixed-term role for 2 years, with potential extension.
About you:
- Extensive experience managing geospatial data across domains like highways, environment, utilities, land management, and planning.
- Experience designing, building, testing, and maintaining geospatial data pipelines, including automated ETL processes.
- Ability to integrate diverse data sources into cloud-hosted spatial data warehouses.
- Experience with national/local datasets like Ordnance Survey, ONS, Land and Property, and Street Gazetteers.
- Experience working with multidisciplinary teams to gather requirements and design data products.
- Advanced knowledge of spatial databases (PostgreSQL/PostGIS), data modeling, and cloud architecture.
- Creative problem-solving skills.
Preferred roles include Senior GIS Consultant, GIS Specialist, GIS Lead, or Geospatial Analytics Manager.
