We are recruiting on behalf of a well-regarded secondary school in South East London for an experienced Psychology teacher to lead the subject and contribute to the Science department from September 2026. This is a maternity cover position with the potential to make a real mark on a thriving department during your time there.
The Role
This isn't a straightforward cover position. The school is looking for someone who can take genuine ownership of Psychology; leading the subject, supporting student outcomes and bringing energy and expertise to the department. The ability to teach Science alongside Psychology is essential, giving you a varied and rewarding timetable.
Lead and deliver Psychology across KS4 and KS5
Teach Science (KS3 and KS4) alongside your Psychology timetable
Support students with A-Level Psychology coursework and exam preparation
Contribute to department planning, assessment and wider school life
Work collaboratively with a supportive and experienced Science and Humanities teamWhat We Are Looking For
Qualified Teacher Status - essential
Strong Psychology subject knowledge with experience teaching at A-Level
Ability to teach Science to KS3 and KS4 - Biology, Chemistry or Combined Science preferred
A confident, adaptable teacher who can step into a leadership role from day one
Someone who takes pride in their results and genuinely cares about their students
Maternity cover experience is a bonus but absolutely not essentialThe School
