We are working with a renowned telecommunications business seeking a Legal Counsel to support its retail and franchise operations on a wide range of commercial and operational legal matters.

Location: London, hybrid working

Duration: 12-month contract

The Role

This role sits within a Consumer Legal team and focuses on supporting retail and franchise models across a customer‑facing telecommunications estate. The emphasis is on commercial advisory work, operational legal risk, and enabling the effective running and evolution of retail and partner structures.

The role:

• Providing pragmatic, commercially focused legal advice across retail and franchise operations
• Supporting franchise and partner models, including contractual, governance, and operational frameworks
• Advising on a broad range of commercial agreements and legal issues affecting customer‑facing retail environments
• Supporting compliance with legislation and regulation impacting retail and franchise structures
• Working closely with retail, operations, and commercial stakeholders to manage legal risk while enabling business growth
• Contributing to legal risk assessments and assurance processes across retail and operational initiatives
• Supporting legal training, process improvement, and scalable legal delivery across the consumer legal function
• Monitoring legal and regulatory developments impacting retail and franchise activities and sharing insights with stakeholders

Ideal Candidate

• England & Wales qualified lawyer
• Experience advising consumer, retail, or franchised businesses, ideally within telecommunications or a similar operational environment
• Strong commercial contracts experience with a practical, solutions‑focused approach
• Confidence engaging directly with senior operational and commercial stakeholders
• Able to manage multiple workstreams independently in a fast‑paced, operational setting
