Serica Energy plc - Oil & Gas Staff Legal Counsel/Senior Legal Counsel Location: Onshore Aberdeen, opportunity for hybrid working, UK, AB15 6BY Position Type: Staff Date Posted: 12 March 2026 Closing Date: 20 March 2026 Department: Legal Reports to: General Counsel Salary: Competitive The Role This new role, reporting to the General Counsel, has been created to support Serica’s continued growth and will act as the main provider of day-to-day legal advice and support to Serica’s Aberdeen offices. It will require an individual with the experience and confidence to work autonomously on activities and will have access to the support of the wider legal team, based in London. The scope, responsibilities and job title will reflect the experience that the successful candidate brings. Providing pragmatic, common sense legal guidance to support our existing upstream operations is essential. Focusing on key asset‑related agreements such as JOAs, transportation agreements etc, the role will also manage the full lifecycle of key operational and commercial contracts, including negotiations, as well as advising the wider organisation in relation to risk, corporate governance, regulatory matters and relevant legislative changes. It will ideally suit an organised, confident and solutions‑oriented lawyer who is business focused and has an inquisitive mind. This is an exciting opportunity with an ambitious and growing oil and gas operator. What We're Looking For In Potential Candidates
Demonstrable experience in upstream oil & gas commercial and operational matters, including JOAs, transportation agreements, sales agreements, and other asset related contracts Experience supporting asset transactions (acquisitions, divestments, and interest transfers) and related due diligence Strong understanding of UKCS regulatory frameworks Proven ability to provide commercial, pragmatic advice to operational and non‑legal stakeholders in a fast‑paced environment Experience managing or coordinating external counsel, particularly for specialised upstream, regulatory, or transactional matters Excellent drafting, negotiation, and communication skills, with the ability to handle complex contractual and risk issues independently
