We are working with a leading international professional services firm to recruit an experienced Legal Project Manager to join their Business Finance team in London.
This is an excellent opportunity for a project management professional with experience in legal or professional services environments to play a key role in the delivery of complex, high-value legal matters. The successful candidate will work closely with partners, lawyers and business services teams to ensure matters are delivered efficiently, on budget and in line with client expectations.
The Role
As a Legal Project Manager, you will support the delivery of structured project management across complex and multi-jurisdictional legal matters. Working alongside senior members of the Legal Project Management team, you will help manage projects from initial scoping through to completion, ensuring effective planning, financial oversight and stakeholder communication.
Key responsibilities will include:
Project Management
Supporting the delivery of legal project management across complex client engagements. Assisting with matter kick-off, scoping, planning and reporting, including project timelines and progress tracking. Monitoring scope, timelines and risks, ensuring matters remain on track and within agreed parameters. Acting as a key point of contact for internal stakeholders and supporting the management of external service providers. Maintaining project documentation, data and audit trails.
Technology & Process Improvement
Supporting the use and development of Legal Project Management tools and reporting capabilities. Assisting with the development of metrics and dashboards to analyse matter performance. Contributing to client pitches, presentations and case studies that showcase legal project management best practice. Identifying opportunities for process improvement and efficiency through technology and innovative approaches.
Financial Management
Supporting the development and implementation of matter budgets and alternative arrangements. Monitoring budgets against actual performance and providing reporting and analysis to stakeholders. Assisting with the design of financial matter plans to ensure accurate cost tracking. Supporting billing processes and encouraging compliance with financial disciplines across matters.
Stakeholder Engagement
Supporting and mentoring junior members of the Legal Project Management team. Providing training and demonstrations to legal teams on project management tools and processes. Building strong relationships with partners, lawyers and internal stakeholders across the business.
About You
We are keen to speak with candidates who bring:
A degree or equivalent qualification. 5+ years’ experience within a law firm or professional services environment. Strong understanding of legal processes and law firm operations. Experience managing complex projects and multiple stakeholders. Excellent analytical and financial awareness, with the ability to interpret and present data clearly. Strong communication skills with the confidence to engage with senior stakeholders and clients. Advanced Microsoft 365 skills, particularly Excel, PowerPoint, Power BI and SharePoint. Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
Desirable
Qualification or background in law, business, finance or management. Experience using financial practice management systems such as Elite or Aderant. Interest in AI and emerging legal technologies. Experience with Power BI, Power Automate or legal technology platforms. Understanding of law firm economics and financial performance metrics.
