Practice Assistant – Property

A highly regarded law firm is recruiting a Practice Assistant to support its busy Property teams on a permanent, full‑time basis in London. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced legal secretary to work in a professional, collaborative environment known for delivering high‑quality legal services to a prestigious client base.

The role

\n\n

This Practice Assistant position will support fee earners within Commercial Real Estate and Rural Property, providing proactive secretarial and administrative assistance. The role requires strong organisational skills, attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining exceptional client service standards.

Key responsibilities

    \n\t
  • Providing effective diary management and administrative support to fee earners
  • \n\t
  • Acting as a first point of contact for internal and external clients
  • \n\t
  • Producing high‑quality legal documents using firm templates and house style
  • \n\t
  • Proofreading and formatting documentation with a high level of accuracy
  • \n\t
  • Managing files in line with internal procedures, including archiving and off‑site storage
  • \n\t
  • Preparing bills, AML documentation and assisting with conflict searches
  • \n\t
  • Supporting business development activity and maintaining CRM records
  • \n\t
  • Maintaining proficiency across Microsoft Office and document management systems
  • \n

The teams

You will work closely with established Property practices advising a wide range of clients, including private and institutional investors, developers, landowners, charities and conservation organisations. The teams are recognised for their technical expertise, commercial awareness and ability to deliver complex work to demanding deadlines.

Skills and experience

\n\n
    \n\t
  • Previous secretarial experience within a law firm is essential
  • \n\t
  • Proven experience in Commercial Real Estate is required; Rural Property experience is advantageous
  • \n\t
  • Excellent organisational, communication and time‑management skills
  • \n\t
  • A professional, flexible and proactive approach to work
  • \n\t
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to confidentiality

Working arrangements

\n\n
    \n\t
  • Full‑time, Monday to Friday, 9.30am – 5.30pm
  • \n\t
  • London‑based role with agile working, including a minimum office attendance requirement
