OverviewWe are looking to recruit an experienced Solicitor who is seeking to develop their inquest work alongside fantastic leadership, supervisory and service development opportunities.The Solicitor will act for and on behalf of Cardiff and Vale UHB in the management of inquest proceedings and related requests from the coroner. The role involves investigating the factual circumstances of cases and advising on the management of inquest proceedings. The Solicitor will have the opportunity to attend inquests, advocate on behalf of Cardiff and Vale UHB and, where appropriate, liaise with the coroner.Working closely with the Inquest Team, clinicians, data systems and the coroner, the Solicitor will lead legally on the delivery of the service, supervise and train staff, and create meaningful and impactful change. The role sits alongside the Head of Inquests and the Assistant Director of Patient Experience, providing the team with legal advice and guidance to work within Cardiff and Vale UHB. The post holder will also lead service development, build partnerships with other leaders in Cardiff and Vale UHB and beyond, and maintain close working relationships with the Head of Inquests.The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.Cardiff and Vale University Health Board, one of the largest integrated health boards in the UK, employs over 15,000 staff and provides more than 100 specialist services.
