Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced and reliable live-in care assistant to support a 90-year-old gentleman living with dementia in his own home. This role requires a calm, professional carer who can provide consistent personal care, companionship, and day-to-day support while maintaining dignity, safety, and routine.

Key Responsibilities

Dementia & Personal Care

• Assist with washing, dressing, grooming, and toileting
• Provide reassurance during confusion or anxiety
• Maintain structured routines to support orientation and wellbeing

Daily Living Support

• Assist with mobility and safe movement around the home
• Meal preparation, hydration, and medication prompts (as per care plan)
• Grocery shopping and errands related to the client’s needs

Companionship & Engagement

• Provide meaningful companionship and conversation
• Encourage light activities appropriate to the client’s abilities

Household Support

• Light housekeeping related to the client’s care
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organised living environment

Monitoring & Records

• Observe and report changes in health or behaviour
• Maintain daily care notes and liaise with family or care coordinator
  

Candidate Requirements (ESSENTIAL)

• Minimum 12 months’ live-in care experience
• (Care home or visiting-only experience is not sufficient)
• Proven experience supporting clients with dementia
• Right to work in the UK (no sponsorship available)
• Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
• Calm, patient, and professional manner
• Fluent spoken English
• Ability to commit to a live-in placement
  

Desirable

• NVQ/QCF Level 2 or 3 in Health & Social Care
• Dementia-specific or First Aid training
• Experience supporting elderly male clients
  

Compliance & Checks

• Enhanced DBS check (required or willingness to obtain)
• Professional references covering live-in care experience
  

Working Arrangement

• Live-in care with agreed rest periods
• Accommodation and meals provided
• Ongoing support from care coordinator
  

Pay

• £950 per week
• Paid weekly or as agreed
