Machine Setter / Engineering Technician
Our client is a well-established high-speed manufacturer of specialist packaging items for the food & cosmetics industry.
Reporting to the Technical Team Leader, the key objective of this role is to ensure that all changeovers are completed successfully to ensure that products are manufactured in an efficient way and in line with all appropriate safety and quality standards. To make adjustments to the manufacturing equipment when the products are moving out of the specification envelope. To take part in continuous improvement activities to support the business in being more successful.
HOURS OF WORK: Monday – Friday 06.00 – 14.00 and 14.00 – 22.00 with flexibility
Key Responsibilities
* To change over production lines in an efficient and safe way
* To set the parameters of the equipment to achieve the right quality standards
* To adjust presses, rolling machines, slitters and transport mechanisms when it looks as though a problem might be developing
* To correctly identify tooling issues and to work with other team members to resolve these when it looks as though a more serious problem might be developing
* To take part in continuous improvement activities
* To support and advise the production Supervisor in planning change-over activities to support the production plan
* To behave in a manner that is safe and that promotes good manufacturing practice
* To assist in training Senior Operators to adjust equipment
* To work with team members to improve the effectiveness of the change-over processes
* To assist in training new Setter Technicians
* To work shifts or flexible working patterns when required
* To take part in the Health and Safety Committee or other representation roles
Necessary Requirements
* 2/3 years machine setting experience
* To understand all safety rules and quality rules
* To understand TPM and improvement processes
* To liaise with visitors as necessary
* To understand the technical processes
* To operate manufacturing equipment when required
* To give reasonable cover in operational areas when required
* To work shifts or flexible working patterns when required
Desirable Requirements
* Engineering qualification
* To assist in preparing training programs
Remuneration
Salary £34k / £17.40ph – Basic 37.5hrs per week
Overtime paid on top.
