Maintenance Engineer (Electrical Bias)

£46,500 – £48,175 + Bonus + Benefits
A well-established and growing manufacturing business based in Leeds is seeking an electrically biased Maintenance Engineer to join its engineering team.
This is an excellent opportunity to work within a fast-paced, high-volume production environment, supporting the performance and reliability of modern automated equipment.
Working on a rotating shift pattern (6–2 / 2–10 / 10–6) with no weekend working, the successful candidate will play a key role as the technical point of contact on shift, driving continuous improvement and supporting both engineering and production teams.
The Role
The Maintenance Engineer will be responsible for ensuring the smooth running of production equipment, providing both reactive and planned maintenance while driving improvements across the site.
Key responsibilities include:
* Providing reactive maintenance support to minimise downtime
* Carrying out planned and preventative maintenance on plant and equipment
* Fault finding across electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems
* Supporting and fault-finding on PLC-controlled machinery
* Identifying and implementing continuous improvement initiatives to reduce waste and increase efficiency
* Ensuring all maintenance work is completed in line with health, safety, and quality standards
* Supporting production teams to optimise machine performance and output
* Assisting with installation and commissioning of new equipment
* Contributing to the development of maintenance strategies to reduce unplanned downtime
About You
The ideal candidate will be a proactive and enthusiastic engineer who is comfortable working autonomously and as part of a team in a continuous improvement environment.
You will have:
* NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
* A time-served apprenticeship
* Strong electrical fault-finding skills (mechanical knowledge also desirable)
* Experience working in a manufacturing or production environment
* Working knowledge of PLC fault finding (programming experience advantageous)
* Familiarity with continuous improvement tools such as Lean, 5S, or TPM
* Strong problem-solving ability and a methodical approach
* Excellent communication skills and the ability to work cross-functionally
Desirable:
* 17th or 18th Edition Wiring Regulations
