Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer – food manufacturing

Location: Leek, UK

SHIFT Based – Monday to Fridays 40 hours per week

About the Role

We’re looking for a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer to join our growing team at a fast-paced blended powder manufacturing site.

This is a hands-on role where no two days are the same. You’ll be working across a mix of reactive maintenance, planned preventative maintenance (PPM), and improvement projects, helping to keep our production lines running efficiently and safely.

What You’ll Be Doing – brief overview – full JD will be given to shortlisted candidates

• Keeping production running by responding quickly to breakdowns and faults
• Carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) to keep equipment reliable
• Working on a range of machinery including blending, conveying, filling, and packaging systems
• Supporting and maintaining site utilities such as HVAC, refrigeration, and compressed air
• Recording all work clearly in our CMMS system to ensure full traceability
• Getting involved in installing and commissioning new equipment
• Identifying ways to improve performance, reduce downtime, and increase efficiency

Safety & Food Standards Matter Here

This is a food manufacturing environment, so you’ll play a key role in maintaining high standards:

• Working safely at all times in line with UK Health & Safety regulations (LOTO, permits, risk assessments)
• Proactively spotting and reporting hazards, near misses, and unsafe conditions
• Maintaining excellent hygiene and housekeeping standards in line with GMP and HACCP
• Ensuring all work supports BRCGS food safety standards and doesn’t introduce contamination risks

What We’re Looking For

Essential:

• Multi-skilled engineer (electrical & mechanical)
• Level 3 qualification (or equivalent apprenticeship)
• Experience in FMCG, food, or manufacturing environment
• Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
• Comfortable using maintenance systems (CMMS)
• A team player with a proactive, “can-do” attitude

Desirable:

• Experience in powder blending or food production
• Knowledge of PLC systems
• Experience with conveyors, mixers, or packaging machinery
• HVAC, refrigeration, or utilities experience
• Continuous improvement / Lean experience
