You’ll be joining a company that continues to invest heavily in technology and its people, offering a clean, structured and secure environment for a skilled maintenance engineer.
What you’ll be doing
As a maintenance engineer, your role will be focused on ensuring maximum uptime of highly automated equipment used across the three-floor site. You’ll work closely with a small on-site engineering team, balancing planned maintenance with occasional reactive tasks in a calm and well-organised operation.
Your responsibilities will include:
Performing preventative maintenance tasks across a variety of electrical and mechanical systems.
Responding to breakdowns, diagnosing issues, and replacing like-for-like components.
Electrical fault finding with multimeters, isolating faults, and working with sensors, switches, fuses, and motors.
Mechanical rebuild and replacement of chains, shafts, bearings, gearboxes, and pneumatic systems.
Checking stock levels and supporting with spares management.
Taking part in ongoing improvement projects around system efficiency and stock flow.
Collaborating with the team to maintain exceptional availability and uptime KPIs.
This site sees only around one breakdown per 24 hours on average, with over 98% of maintenance being planned—making it an ideal setting for a maintenance engineer who enjoys stability and structure, with opportunities to contribute to wider improvements.
What the client is looking for
To be successful as a maintenance engineer, you should have:
A recognised Level 3 qualification in either Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (City & Guilds, NVQ, etc.).
Strong hands-on experience in fault finding and repairing both electrical and mechanical systems.
Familiarity with three-phase systems, isolators, proximity sensors, and safety switches.
Experience in an automated, fast-moving or distribution environment is a plus.
A willingness to work on a large-scale site (engineers can walk 9–10 miles daily across three floors).
A proactive, team-focused attitude and the desire to keep improving site performance.
