Site Engineering & Maintenance Manager

Location: South of Belfast

We are currently recruiting for a Site Engineering & Maintenance Manager to join a well-established industrial processing business operating within a fast-paced, heavy plant environment.

This is a site-level leadership role with full responsibility for engineering performance, maintenance strategy, and contractor management. The position offers the opportunity to take ownership of engineering standards and play a key role in improving plant reliability and operational efficiency.

The Role

You will take ownership of all engineering activity on site, with a strong focus on driving standards, improving maintenance practices, and ensuring compliance.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Full responsibility for site engineering and maintenance performance
  • Managing and coordinating external maintenance contractors
  • Leading a small on-site engineering team
  • Driving the transition from reactive to planned/preventative maintenance
  • Ownership of permits, RAMS, and engineering compliance standards
  • Ensuring adherence to HSE legislation and site procedures
  • Supporting plant reliability, uptime, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Involvement in CAPEX projects, upgrades, and new equipment installation
  • Monitoring maintenance performance, costs, and contractor effectiveness
The Site

The role supports a heavy industrial processing facility, involving equipment such as:

  • Shredders, conveyors, and mechanical handling systems
  • Material separation and processing equipment
  • Bulk handling and recycling-related plant

This is a hands-on environment where engineering plays a critical role in maintaining operational performance.

About You

We are looking for a strong engineering leader who is comfortable taking ownership and driving standards on site.

You will ideally have:

  • Proven experience in a maintenance management or site engineering role
  • Background in heavy industrial environments such as recycling, waste processing, aggregates, FMCG, or similar
  • Experience managing contractors and external service providers
  • Strong knowledge of permits, RAMS, and engineering compliance
  • Experience improving maintenance strategies (PPM, CMMS, reliability)
  • Good understanding of HSE standards and safe systems of work
  • Ability to lead, influence, and drive improvements across site
