We're looking for aGeneral Building Operativeto join our facilities team, helping ensure a safe, secure and well maintained environment for staff and residents.

The Role

As a key part of our maintenance team, you'll be responsible for general building and facilities support across the prison estate, including:

• Carrying out general maintenance tasks and supporting trades on site
• Assisting with DIY activities such as decorating, installing noticeboards, furniture assembly, and small repairs
• Escorting contractors working within secure areas when required
• Checking fittings, appliances and equipment, reporting any defects
• Maintaining good housekeeping around the site - including litter picking or basic landscaping
• Ensuring safe working practices and supporting the FM team with day to day duties

You'll play an important role in helping us keep essential facilities running smoothly and safely.

The Requirements

We're looking for someone who is practical, reliable and keen to learn:

• Strong practical/DIY skills and experience in general building maintenance
• Good time management and the ability to work as part of a team
• Willingness to develop new skills and adapt to a varied workload
• CITB certification or an NVQ trade qualification (preferred)
• A positive attitude and commitment to safe working practices

Clearance:Security clearance, Standard DBS and Counter Terrorism Check (CTC) are required.
