Job Description
Maintenance Technician (Nights)
Location: Deeside – full time on site
Contract Duration: 12 months
Pay Rate: £45 per hour (Umbrella)
Shift Pattern:
Monday – Thursday: 22:00 – 06:00 Friday: 15:45 – 20:45
The Role
We are currently seeking an experienced Maintenance Technician to join a fast‑paced manufacturing environment in Deeside on a long‑term contract. The role involves carrying out reactive and proactive maintenance on a range of electro‑mechanical processing and packaging machinery, ensuring maximum uptime and production efficiency.
This is a hands‑on, shop‑floor‑based position suited to a multiskilled maintenance engineer with strong electrical and mechanical fault‑finding capability.
Key Responsibilities:
Carry out reactive and planned maintenance (PPMs) on processing and packaging equipment Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, PLC and control system faults to minimise downtime Support production and line leaders to maintain efficient operation of manufacturing lines Maintain accurate maintenance records, including CMMS updates and breakdown history Identify spares requirements and support stock control of critical components Ensure all work is carried out in line with Health & Safety standards Participate in maintenance handovers and communicate technical issues effectively Contribute to continuous improvement projects and equipment reliability initiatives
Skills & Experience Required:
Time‑served apprenticeship in engineering Strong mechanical and electrical maintenance background NVQ Level 3 / ONC / HNC (or equivalent) in Engineering or Maintenance Experience maintaining processing and/or packaging machinery Working knowledge of PLCs and inspection/vision systems 18th Edition Wiring Regulations Experience with inverters, servo drives and DC drives Confident working with 415V to 24VDC power and control circuits Ability to fault‑find with or without engineering drawings Previous experience in fast‑paced manufacturing environments (pharma, medical devices, FMCG, or similar )
