Manufacturing Technician – Job Summary
A hands-on role in a fast-paced, automated, just-in-time manufacturing environment, with ownership of two production lines. Ideal for a proactive Manufacturing Technician who enjoys independent working, problem-solving under pressure, and keeping complex machinery running at peak performance.
Key Responsibilities
Take ownership of twoautomated production lines within a just-in-time operation
Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and condition-based maintenance
Complete pre-shift checks and ensure equipment readiness
Diagnose and repair electro-mechanical faults, including electrical, pneumatic, and mechanical issues
Lead corrective repairs and minimise downtime in a high-pressure environment
Balance urgent breakdown response with planned maintenance activities
Proactively plan, schedule, and complete maintenance and residual inspections
Produce accurate shift, breakdown, and performance reports
Maintain and update risk assessments, manual handling assessments, and work procedures
Support production teams to meet quality, delivery, and performance targets
Adhere to all safety and environmental procedures
Participate in maintenance, production, and safety meetings
Work effectively within a rotating shift pattern
Candidate Profile
Level 3 qualification in Engineering or Maintenance
Completed a general maintenance apprenticeship
Strong electro-mechanical engineering experience in a production line environment
Proven fault-finding skills on complex automated machinery
Comfortable working independently, taking ownership of equipment and priorities
Experience in fast-paced, high-pressure manufacturing environments
Broad exposure to machinery and equipment (motors, conveyors, sensors, pneumatics, safety systems)
Working knowledge of lean manufacturing (5S, Kaizen, TPM, AM & PM)
Able to read and interpret engineering drawings
PC literate (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Strong communicator and team player with a proactive mindset
Full driving licence
Desirable Experience
Automotive manufacturing
PLC fault-finding or programming (Mitsubishi / Allen-Bradley)
CAD experience
IPAF certification
Welding (Arc / MIG)
17th Edition electrical qualification
