Management Unit Lead - Residential/Social Housing

Job Description
Vinci Building Solutions are looking for a new Management Unit Lead to lead the newly consolidated Residential Management Unit, bringing together the South and North portfolios. The Management Unit Lead will be required to stabilise current operations and drive sustainable growth through securing and delivering long-term contracts - particularly with local authorities and councils. You will be accountable for operational and commercial delivery across a portfolio currently exceeding £30m.
Key Accountabilities:
- Safety, Health & Environment: Champion a safety-first culture; ensure all projects comply with HS&E legislation, company management systems and site plans.
- Strategy & Planning: Develop and execute a clear sector business plan (including V-MOST tactics); set objectives and ensure delivery of contract and divisional targets.
- Operational Leadership: Determine project set-up, roles and responsibilities; oversee programmes (critical path, float, risk & opportunity) and resource allocation.
- Commercial & Financial Control: Lead CVR and monthly reporting; ensure timely applications for payment; maximise cash flow and profit while minimising risk.
- Business Development: Build pipeline and future workload; develop relationships across the social housing market to originate and convert opportunities (PQQs, ITTs, bids).
- Supply Chain & Procurement: Vet and onboard subcontractors aligned to programme and commercial requirements; drive continuous improvement with partners.
- Quality & Assurance: Embed robust procedures and auditing; promote knowledge-sharing and best practice across the sector.
- Risk Management: Lead risk and opportunity management, assigning clear ownership and actions.
- Client & Stakeholder Management: Chair effective meetings; maintain open, honest reporting; negotiate commercially to secure win–win outcomes.
Experience Required:
- Extensive senior leadership experience within social housing (repairs, planned works, or refurbishment), spanning both operational delivery and commercial accountability.
- Proven ability to stabilise and grow complex portfolios; track record in bringing in new clients and contracts across councils/local authorities.
- Strong leadership, collaboration and stakeholder engagement skills; able to build, motivate and scale multidisciplinary teams.
- MCIOB and/or degree-qualified (desirable; equivalent experience considered).
- Full UK driving licence (role requires regular travel).
