This is a corporate banking role and this experience is essential. My client, a well-established Chinese corporate bank in London, is currently looking to appoint a Deputy Head of Operations to support the senior management team in overseeing a broad range of wholesale banking operations and regulatory responsibilities.

The Role

This is a senior, hands-on leadership role for an experienced Operations professional who can combine deep technical expertise with strong people management, governance and regulatory oversight capability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee day to day execution of both domestic and international Payments, Treasury settlements , Trade Finance, Loan Administration Reconciliations, Correspondent Banking.
  • Lead and develop a team of Operations Managers and Officers, including cross-training and capability uplift
  • Maintain a strong operational risk and control framework through RCSA, procedures and end to end process mapping
  • Act as a SMF delegated individual, providing day to day oversight of CASS-related matters
  • Own and coordinate UK regulatory reporting, including (but not limited to) EMIR, MiFID II, SFTR, SCV, SMMD and CASS
  • Lead and support bank-wide projects, including system enhancements, BRD preparation, UAT and implementation
  • Liaise closely with Front Office, Compliance, Risk, Finance and other 2LoD functions
  • Support Internal Audit, regulatory reviews and governance committee reporting
  • Oversee Business Continuity Planning and disaster recovery testing


Key Requirements

  • 10 + years’ experience in Operations within a corporate / wholesale banking environment
  • Strong hands on knowledge across Treasury, Clearing, Corporate Banking and Custodian operations
  • Proven experience managing UK regulatory impacts on Operations
  • Competent with SWIFT, Treasury booking and settlement systems (e.g. OPICS), and related operational platforms
  • Demonstrated people management experience with the ability to develop and upskill teams
  • Experience working closely with Compliance, Risk and Audit functions
  • Strong communication skills in English; Mandarin is highly advantageous for head office coordination
  • Ability to work under pressure, manage competing priorities and maintain high levels of accuracy
